The Organic Picnic 2011
An t-Ionad Glas, The Organic College, is celebrating twenty years of Organic Education during September. To coincide with National Organic Week the college is hosting a day of celebrations to showcase Irish Organic Food Producers and the Organic College.
Emulating the very successful Portumna Forest Picnic held last year, the theme of the event will be the promotion of local organic producers and food. Producers from the wider region will be highlighted and past students of the college who are also producers will be profiled.
Features at the Dromcollogher Organic Picnic will be an organic farmers market, organic food stalls, and an information area and kids wildlife zone. A host of workshops will be on offer on the day.
Over the years, the college has built up a strong reputation nationally as a provider of quality organic education and this will be reflected in the events taking place. Organic farmers in the county are encouraged to attend and promote their own business. The event will provide an ideal family day out in a convivial and enjoyable setting. Entrance is free, so a large crowd is expected to come out to celebrate the organic college and organic week.
